What do I do?
  • teach about language, culture and literature, Jewish women's writing, Yiddish women writers. film adaptation and history of feminism and gender studies;
  • I am an a leader of series of seminars and cultural platform;
  • I am also an author of blogs on Women's Writing, like this one Cudzoziemki: women's writing from Poland and WOW Women Online Writing

My research interests lie primarily in language, literature and discourses, mainly European literature and translation, particularly twentieth-century Polish literature, the writing of modernists writers and artists (such as the writing of Irena Krzywicka, the protagonist of my Ph.D. thesis), the feminist theory and contemporary comparative studies between Polish and Russian literature. I am also interested in the use of metaphor and other linguistic devises in the construction of a figurative language of illness within contemporary Polish women’s writing. I completed my PhD thesis at the Jagiellonian University in 2004. The work, a critical reassessment of the literary and intellectual figure of Irena Krzywicka was published in Poland in 2007.

I have published articles and book chapters on women’s writing, literary theory and literary and cultural history (e.g. in Gender and Sexuality in Ethical Context: Ten essays on Polish prose, ed. Knut Andreas Grimstad and Ursula Phillips, Slavica Bergensia, Volume 5, 2005). I cooperate and publish in the Polish Magazines such as Zadra and RitaBaum. Currently I am working on book as part of her research undertaken at the University of Tampere on Polish Women’s Writing within the perspective of body theory and the notion of nomadism and melancholy. I also cooperate in developing an e-learning course in Polish language as part of the project, entitled: Personal Learning Environments In Polish And Romanian Language Teaching. Conceptualizing And Designing E-Learning Toolkits For Independent Postgraduate Learners (Beginners Level).

I am a happy mum of three wonderful kids, Aleksander who at the age of three got to know all three nursery systems in UK, Spain and Poland. And the Twins (Bliźniaki), Hana and Maxim whose first year of their life "shared" with the book on Melancholic Migrating Bodies, while I was finalising it.
